Join the N.C. High Peaks Trail Association for an easy stroll at Carvers Gap near Roan Mountain on Sunday June 21, when the high country’s rhododendron bloom should be on full display.
Strollers should meet on the Burnsville Town Square at 1 p.m. The group will ride in a Yancey County Transportation van for a donation of $5 per person, reservations required. Pets are not allowed on the vans so if you want to bring your leashed dog you’ll need to provide your own transportation.
The stroll will be about a mile in length, some of it uphill, as the group walks along the Appalachian Trail from Carvers Gap toward Grassy Ridge. Please bring a light jacket or rain gear in case of cool or rainy weather.
For more information and to reserve your seat on the van, contact stroll leader Judy Larkins at email@example.com or 284-6902. Please check the club’s website, www.nc.highpeak.org or Facebook page for last-minute changes due to weather.
