BIRDING STROLL: Sunday August 30, 6pm at Cane River Park
The end of summer finds the birds in a transition period. Nesting is complete and some fall migration has begun. Our resident Red-Winged Blackbirds, for example, are long gone and we will be looking for migrants from the north coming through. Bluebirds are numerous with many youngsters feeding in the grassy areas of the park. Most days we find up to 20 species. That is a bit down from peak spring counts, but still an enjoyable outing!
Bring a pair of binoculars and dress for the weather. We will go rain or shine if at all possible. Meet in the large parking lot next to the soccer field near the kiosk. For more information call 828 682-3733.
