Join the High Peaks Trail Association for a moderate hike Nov. 14 along a pleasant section of the Mountains-to-Sea Trail. The seven-mile hike will start at Buck Creek Gap, where Highway 80 crosses the Blue Ridge Parkway, and end at the Black Mountain Campground.

Hikers should assemble on the Burnsville Town Square at 8:30 a.m.Transportation will be provided in a Yancey County van for a $5 donation, although you must contact the hike leader to reserve your seat.

Bring a lunch, plenty of water, snacks, warm clothes and rain gear if the weather is threatening. Leashed dogs are allowed on the hike but not on the van, so if you bring your pet you must provide your own transportation.

The van will meet hikers at the campground entrance and return them to the Town Square around 4 p.m.

To reserve your seat on the van or for more information, contact hike leader Robert Branch at rbranch54@yahoo.com or 682-3102. As always, check the High Peaks Facebook page or website, www.nchighpeaks.org, for last-minute changes due to weather.
