Join the High Peaks Trail Association for a challenging hike along the western flanks of the Black Mountains on Saturday Dec. 5. This difficult, 10-mile hike will start at the Cattail Community Center and climb 2,500 feet up to Deep Gap. The group will then hike to Ogle Rock on an abandoned railroad grade that was rediscovered by Worth and Susan Weller. The hike will end with a 2,500-foot descent back to Cattail.
Hikers should meet at the parking area near the Cattail Community Center at 8:30 a.m. Bring plenty of water, lunch, snacks, warm clothes, rain gear and Yak Tracks if you have them as there might be ice or snow in some places on the trail.
The group should return to Cattail around 3:30 p.m. This is a difficult hike so please contact hike leader Dennis Smith to let him know if you plan to come: 828.284.4000 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
