The N.C. High Peaks Trail Association invites members and the public to its annual meeting at 3 p.m. on Saturday, October 15 at the Yancey County Library in Burnsville.
The group will elect four High Peaks Board members and review the past year’s activities, while previewing an exciting schedule of hikes, trail maintenance days and other activities for the coming year. One of the rangers from the US Forest Service, Appalachian Ranger District will provide a short talk about future cooperation between the Forest Service and High Peaks. Light refreshments will be served.
Nominees for the four vacant Board positions are Russ Oates, Katey Schultz, Susan Weller, John Whitehouse and Mike Williams. All members are eligible to vote if they have paid their 2016 or 2017 dues. Members include Individual Members, Organizational Members, and all Family Members 18 years of age or older. Any member in attendance can also nominate individuals to be considered. If you cannot attend and would like to vote, please use the attached absentee ballot. You may vote for any of the five nominated candidates or write-in one or more candidates for a total of four votes. Write-in candidates will be considered at the meeting with your write-in being counted as a vote for that individual.
