Join the N.C. High Peaks Trail Association for a fun hike at spectacular Grandfather Mountain on Saturday, Nov. 5. This loop hike will follow the Tanawa Trail to the Daniel Boone Scout Trail, then up to Flat Rock View spot where the group should be treated to nice views during lunch. The trek will continue down Cragway to the Nuwati Trail and finally loop back to the Tanawa Trail and the starting point.
The hike is rated as moderate in difficulty with a total distance of 4.5 miles.
Hikers should assemble on the Burnsville Town Square at 8:30 a.m. Transportation will be provided in a Yancey County van for a donation of $5, reservations required by Nov. 3.
Bring a lunch, plenty of water, warm clothes and rain gear. Leashed dogs are allowed on the hike but not in the van, so if you bring your dog you must provide your own transportation.
Contact Hike Leader Robert Branch at 828-682-5737 or firstname.lastname@example.org by Nov. 3 to reserve your spot on the van. As always please check the High Peaks website, www.nchighpeaks.org, or Facebook page for last-minute changes due to weather.
