Audubon Christmas Bird Count

US/Eastern

The High Peaks Birders are planning the next Audubon Christmas Bird Count and have chosen Saturday, December 16th with a back up date of the 30th.   We are looking for bird watchers of all skill levels to help with the count. The Audubon Christmas Bird Count is the longest running citizen-science project. You can read more about it at http://www.audubon.org/conservation/science/christmas-bird-count

This is our third year since the count was restarted after a long break. You'll be paired up with a team, so if you're an expert you can help newer birders and if you're just learning about birds, joining the count will improve your skills. Additionally, if you live within the boundary of the count circle and have a bird feeder you can participate from home doing a feeder count.

Folks, calendars fill up fast these days, so if this sounds like something you'd enjoy please mark the dates now.   High Peaks Birders will have more information coming in the months ahead here in the newspaper, as well as here on the High Peaks website.
