High Peaks Leads Celo-Area Hike April 21

Join the N.C. High Peaks Trail Association for a special treat April 21 as long-time South Toe hiker Randy Raskin leads a five-mile jaunt around the Celo Community. This mostly flat hike should come as Spring is fully upon us.

The hike is rated as moderate and will proceed through pastures, woodlands, old road beds and creek-side trails. If the weather is clear it should offer some of the best views of the Black Mountains available in the South Toe River valley.

Hikers should park at the Celo Inn, the Celo Health Center or the Celo Community Center and gather in the parking lot of the Celo Health Center by 9 a.m.

Bring water, snacks, hiking poles if you use them and rain gear just in case. Leashed dogs are allowed on the hike. Reservations are not required, but if you have questions contact hike organizer Katey Schultz at katey13@hotmail.com.

The hike should be completed by Noon, so no need to bring a lunch. As always, check the High Peaks Facebook page or website, www.nchighpeaks.org, for last-minute changes due to weather.
