Historic Mitchell Toll Road- Rocky Knobs & Greybeard- Saturday, August 17

Tomorrow's hike is still on as planned. The weather forecast is calling for some rain but no thunder or lightning. Bring your rain gear, water, lunch and hiking poles if you have them. Should be a fun hike!
Travel back in time by hiking down the Old Mitchell Toll Road! The NC High Peaks Trail Association will lead a hike on Saturday, August 17 from the Blue Ridge Parkway down the historic Mitchell Toll Road and over several prominent peaks with stunning views, including the Rocky Knobs and Greybeard. This hike will also offer the option of a side trip to a spectacular vista atop Blue Ridge Pinnacle.
This is a fairly strenuous 8 mile hike with some bushwhacking, but also includes many easy sections along the Toll Road.

Hikers should meet at the Town Square in Burnsville at 8:30 or on the Blue Ridge Parkway at a grassy pullout near the Mitchell Toll Road at 9:15. Bring lunch and plenty of water. This a pet friendly event! Call or e-mail hike leader Margaret Hayes at 336-817-8123/margaret829@AOL.com for more information.
