High Peaks Trail Work Weekend, April 7, 8 and 9

NOTE:  Due to poor weather on Friday we will not be working on that day.  However all the other events noted below will take place.

Please join NC High Peaks for our annual cleanup of Black Mountain Campground and the surrounding trails.  The event will take place from Friday April 7 through Sunday April 9.  Volunteers can come for any one day or all three.  Activities will include scouting trails at the campground, removing limbs and downed trees from these trails and cleanup of overlooks assigned to High Peaks on the Blue Ridge Parkway.  No experience or training required.  Teams will be led by experienced trail workers.  Tools will be provided.  Overlook maintenance will be on Saturday, April 8.  Contact Cynthia Blood if you are interested in this activity (cynthiarawls@hotmail.com)  We will meet at 9 AM each day at the kiosk in front of the campground. If the weather looks doubtful check our website and Facebook page for updates.

On Sunday at 1 PM we will have a cookout open to all High Peaks members and volunteers to conclude the work weekend.  Please RSVP to cynthiarawls@hotmail.com by Tuesday, April 4 if you plan to attend the cookout.  Hot dogs and hamburgers will be provided.  Please consider bringing a side dish or desert and let Cynthia know if you plan to do so.  Guests should bring their own beverages for the cookout.  Seating is available but you might want to bring a lawn chair.
