High Peaks Leads Linville Falls Stroll and Wine-Tasting

Join the NC High Peaks Trail Association for a special treat on Saturday, June 22 when the club takes a leisurely stroll to spectacular Linville Falls, followed by a tasting at the Linville Falls Winery.

The adventure will include a stop at Chestoa View overlook on the Blue Ridge Parkway, which offers tremendous views of Table Rock. The easy stroll to Linville Falls is only .5 miles each way with little elevation gain. Hikers who choose can continue another .7 miles and back for a view from the Falls’ lower vantage point.

Participants should gather on the Burnsville Town Square at 9:30 a.m. Transportation will be provided in a Yancey County van for a donation of $5 per person, reservations required. No dogs are allowed on the vans, so if you want to bring your leashed pet, you must provide your own transportation.

Bring snacks, water, lunch, rain gear and hiking poles if you use them. The group should return to Burnsvillebetween 3 p.m. and 4 p.m.

Please contact stroll leader Carolyn Raichle at 407-619-6136 by Thursday evening, June 20 to reserve your seat on the van, or for more information.

As always, check the High Peaks Facebook page or website, www.nchighpeaks.org, for last-minute changes due to weather.
