High Peaks Leads Nov. 10 Stroll on Mountains-to-Sea Trail

Join the NC High Peaks Trail Association on Wednesday, Nov. 10 for a moderate stroll along the Mountains-to-Sea Trail between the Graybeard and Glassmine Overlooks, a section that offers spectacular 360-degree views and ends with a dramatic vista of Glassmine Falls near the Blue Ridge Parkway.

This 2.5-mile jaunt includes moderate climbs and descents of a few hundred feet and some rocky footing.

The group will meet at 10:00 a.m. at the Glassmine Falls Overlook on the Parkway, near Milepost 361. They will then car shuttle to the Greybeard Overlook a few miles away and hike back to the Glassmine Falls Overlook. Hikers are required to wear a mask for the car shuttle.

Bring lunch, snacks, water, warm clothing, hiking poles if you use them and rain gear if the forecast looks threatening. Leashed dogs are allowed on the stroll but owners should be prepared to clean up after their pets.

The outing will be limited to 12 people. To reserve your spot or for more information, contact Hike Leader Joe Lappin at joe.lappin@vanderbilt.edu or 828-675-0248 for more details.

As always, check the High Peaks website, www.nchighpeaks.org, or Facebook page for last-minute changes due to weather.
