High Peaks Leads Hike to Roaring Fork Falls - POSTPONED Until Friday, February 11

Join the NC High Peaks Trail Association for an easy hike to Roaring Fork Falls on Friday, Feb. 11. There will be an option for a longer hike for those who want more exercise.

Meet at the trailhead on Busick Work Center Road at 9:30 a.m. This is just off South Toe River Road after you leave NC Highway 80.

The hike is nearly level and about 1.5 miles in length, with some tough footing over the last short section to the waterfall. Hikers who wish can continue further with the group along a Forest Service Road that climbs a wooded ridge, with the option of turning around at any time they choose. Total distance of the extended hike will be about 5 miles.

Bring water, snacks, lunch, warm clothes and rain gear if needed, along with hiking poles if you use them. Leashed dogs are allowed but you must clean up behind your pet. All hikers should wear masks for the meet-up at the trailhead but can take them off once the group spreads out on the trail.

Contact Hike Leader Duke Rose at dukerosejr@gmail.com or 675-5781 to reserve a space or for more information. As always, check the High Peaks Facebook page or website, www.nchighpeaks.org, for last-minute changes due to weather.
