High Peaks Leads Colbert Ridge Hike March 4


Join the N.C. High Peaks Trail Association on Friday, March 4 for a strenuous hike up the Colbert Ridge Trail, with a possible side excursion to Locust Falls.

The 7-mile outing will include a climb of 2,000 feet and should only be attempted by experienced hikers in excellent condition.

Meet at the Colbert Ridge Trailhead on Colbert Creek Road at 9 a.m. Bring lunch, plenty of water, snacks, foul weather gear, warm clothes and hiking poles if you use them. Leashed dogs are allowed.

The group will proceed several miles up the Colbert Ridge Trail and will divert to Locust Falls through the woods on U.S. Forest Service land, returning to the Colbert Ridge Trail for the descent.
