Join the NC High Peaks Trail Association on Friday, May 3 for a moderate hike at Bailey Mountain, a popular Madison County hiking destination.
The four-mile jaunt will include an elevation gain of 1,200 feet, so hikers should be in good physical condition.
The group will assemble at 8:30 a.m. at the Rose’s Shopping Center parking lot on the corner overlooking Highway 19-E. We’ll take a Yancey Transportation van to and from the hike, with each rider requested to make a $5 donation for the trip. Dogs are not allowed on the vans so you must arrange your own transportation if you want to bring your pooch.
Bring lunch, snacks, plenty of water, hiking poles if you use them and clothing appropriate for the weather forecast. If you bring your pet, bring a leash and be prepared to clean up after them. The hike should take about 3 hours, so the group should be back in Burnsville by early afternoon.
Please contact hike leader Diane Schramm at emilydianehoover@gmail.com
or (904)349-0479 to reserve a spot on the van or if you have questions.
As always, check the High Peaks Facebook page or website, www.nchighpeaks.org, for last-minute changes due to the weather.
