Join NC High Peaks for a moderate hike on the Mountains-to-Sea Trail to a lovely spot with wonderful views of the Asheville watershed and surrounding mountains on Saturday, Nov. 12.

The outing is about two miles out-and-back, with about 350 feet of elevation change. But the trail has several sections of tricky, uneven rock steps that can be hazardous if wet and slippery, so hikers with balance problems should not participate.

Meet at 10 a.m. at the Ridge Junction Overlook on the Blue Ridge Parkway, which is near Milepost 355. The group will car shuttle from there a few miles to the trailhead, which is on Mt. Mitchell Road.

Bring lunch, snacks, water, warm clothes, rain gear if it looks threatening, and hiking poles if you use them. Leashed dogs will be allowed on the hike.

Please contact Hike Leader John Whitehouse ahead of time for planning purposes at 828-682-3217 or trails@nchighpeaks.org. As always, check the High Peaks Facebook page or website, www.nchighpeaks.org, for last-minute changes due to weather.

Photo Info: Hikers will get this view, weather permitting, on the Nov. 12 High Peaks hike.
