Join the NC High Peaks Trail Association on Saturday, Feb. 11 for an easy hike on Neal’s Creek Road and the Mountains-to-Sea Trail near the Black Mountain Campground.

The outing will be 1.5 miles with only a gentle climb up Neal’s Creek Road to the intersection with the MST. Hikers can either return to the trailhead via a shortcut (1.5 miles) or follow the MST back to the campground, an option that will extend the hike to 2.5 miles.

Meet at the parking area trailhead outside the campground entrance at 9:30 a.m. Bring lunch, snacks, water, warm clothes, rain gear and hiking poles if you use them. Leashed dogs are allowed, but owners must bring poop bags to clean up after their pets.

Contact Hike Leader John Whitehouse at trails@nchighpeaks.org or 682-3217 for more information or to reserve a spot on the hike. As always, check the High Peaks Facebook page or website, www.nchighpeaks.org, for last-minute changes due to weather.

Photo info: Hikers will cross this locust bridge over Neal's Creek on the Feb. 11 hike. High Peaks volunteers built the bridge.
