Join the NC High Peaks Trail Association for a moderate, fun hike on the Mountains-to-Sea Trail on Saturday, March 25. Hikers may see a few early wildflowers as this section traverses a rich cove mountainside near the Blue Ridge Parkway between Buck Creek Gap and Neals Creek Road.

The 4-mile hike is rated as moderate, with a steady climb of a few hundred feet to get started, then a long stretch on a contour leading down to Neals Creek.

Meet at 9:30 a.m. at the triangle intersection of South Toe River Road and Neals Creek Road – about one mile before the Black Mountain Campground.

Bring lunch, plenty of water, hiking poles if you use them, snacks, warm clothes and even rain gear if the forecast warrants. Leashed dogs are allowed on the hike, but the group will carpool up to the Parkway, so you may have to provide your own transportation if you bring your pooch.

Contact Hike Leaders Gay and Duke Rose at dukerosejr@gmail.com or 828-675-5781 or text to 828-395-0208 for more information and to reserve a spot on the hike. As always, check the High Peaks Facebook page or website, www.nchighpeaks.org, for last-minute changes due to the weather.
