Join the NC High Peaks Trail Association for a strenuous hike over a spectacular section of the Appalachian Trail between Carvers Gap and Yellow Mountain on Friday, June 2.

This 7-mile outing is only for fit, experienced hikers. The route traverses Jane’s Bald near Carver’s Gap, and the group will take a side trip to Grassy Ridge Bald to enjoy the stunning views.

Meet at the Rose’s Shopping Center parking lot at 8:30 a.m. on the corner overlooking U.S. 19. We will take a Yancey Transportation van for a $5 donation per person. No dogs are allowed on the vans so if you want to bring your leashed pet you must arrange your own transportation.

Bring lunch, snacks, plenty of water, sunscreen, hiking poles if you use them and rain gear if the forecast looks threatening.

Contact Hike Leader Dennis Smith at dennissmith4141@gmail.com or 828-284-4000 to reserve your seat on the van.

As always, check the High Peaks Facebook page or website, www.nchighpeaks.org, for last-minute changes due to weather.
