Fit, experienced hikers are invited to join the NC High Peaks Trail Association on Saturday, June 15 for a strenuous hike along the Appalachian Trail at Firescald, a rocky ridgeline that offers dramatic views.

This five-mile, out-and-back hike along the TN/NC border has rough footing and is not for the unsteady or inexperienced.
Meet at 8:30 a.m. at the Rose’s Shopping Center parking lot on the corner overlooking Highway 19-E in Burnsville and we will carpool to the trailhead, a trip of about 90 minutes.

Bring lunch, snacks, plenty of water, hiking poles if you use them and rain gear if the forecast calls for it. Leashed dogs are allowed on the hike.

For more information, contact Hike Leader Jimmie Bowen at jbowen6116@gmail.com or 252-450-5224. For planning purposes it’s also good to let him know if you intend to join the group.

As always, check the High Peaks website, www.nchighpeaks.org., or Facebook page for last-minute changes due to the weather.
