Please join us on Saturday, October 5 at 10 am in the Burnsville Town Center for our Annual Meeting. Our keynote speaker will be Frances Figart, Creative Services Director for Smokies Life.
Figart directs a team of six writers and designers, serving as editor for Smokies Life Journal, the Smokies LIVE blog, and several books published by Smokies Life. She frequently has bylines in a variety of regional newspapers for her “Word from the Smokies” column and is the author of three books for young readers: the award-winning road ecology fable A Search for Safe Passage, Mabel Meets a Black Bear, and, new this fall, Camilla and the Caterpillars. These books and others will be for sale at the meeting and can be signed by the author.
We will also hear a report from Rob McGraw, Superintendent of Mt. Mitchell State Park. The second half of the meeting will be our annual business meeting for members (guests are welcome) to report on our activities over the last fiscal year and to elect members of the Board of Directors of NC High Peaks Trail Association.
