Fit, experienced hikers are invited to join NC High Peaks Trail Association for a hike on the Mount Mitchell and Higgins Bald trails on Friday, June 26. This moderately strenuous, six-mile "lollipop" hike has 1800 feet of elevation gain and should take about four hours to complete.

Hikers will get views of a large Helene-related landslide passing through the Higgins Bald Trail. Bring plenty of food and water, hiking poles if you use them and clothes suitable for the weather forecast.

Well-behaved, leashed dogs are welcome to join the hike, but be sure to bring them water and be prepared to clean up after them.

Hikers will meet at 9:00 am in the Black Mountain Campground parking area where we will start and finish the hike. As always, check the High Peaks Facebook page or website, www.nchighpeaks.org, for last-minute changes due to the weather.

Please contact hike leader Jimmie Bowen at jimmie@nchighpeaks.org or 252-450-5224 to let him know you are coming.
