All are invited to attend the NC High Peaks Trail Association’s annual meeting at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 14 at the Burnsville Town Center. Our guest speaker will be Kevin Adams, a noted photographer and founder of Waterfall Keepers of North Carolina.

The meeting will begin with Adams’ presentation, which will be followed by the club’s annual business meeting. Visitors don’t have to stay for the business meeting.

Kevin Adams is a naturalist, writer, teacher and photographer who has had a lifelong love affair with nature and the outdoors. In addition to photo credits in all manner of publications, Kevin is the author and photographer of 10 books. He has been a guest host on Wild Photo Adventures on PBS; he leads photo tours and gives numerous presentations throughout the year.

In 2020, Kevin founded Waterfall Keepers of North Carolina with the mission to promote and advance the cultural, economic, ecological, and historical significance of North Carolina’s waterfalls; to serve as an educator and advocate; and to preserve waterfalls and facilitate their enjoyment in perpetuity.

Kevin, who lives in Waynesville with his wife, Patricia, and their two cats, will have a selection of his books on display and for sale after his talk. If you love waterfalls, don’t miss his exciting and inspiring presentation.

The High Peaks business meeting following his presentation will include the election of new officers, a review of the past year’s activities and the agenda for the upcoming year.

Founded in Burnsville in 2010, High Peaks is a non-profit that leads hikes and helps maintain and improve hiking trails in the Black Mountains and throughout the Western North Carolina region. The group is the official “Friends of Mt. Mitchell State Park” organization and has completed numerous projects aimed at assisting and improving Yancey’s most notable destination.
